Art classes with incredible teacher!
Hello, everyone! For those of you interested in developing your drawing/painting skills (even if you are a full beginner!), I would vividly recommend Ms. Faiza Shah, an amazing artist who lived in New York for more than 20 years and is back to Pakistan. She currently teaches at PNCA, where my much loved son of five years old and I had
painting/drawing classes with her. She is a multi talented lady, an Associate Artist with Charles Fazzino (Master of 3D Pop Art) since 2002, and has been working with Mr. Shoaib Mansoor (acclaimed film and TV director in Pakistan) as Art Director for decades. Ms. Faizah has a wonderful sense of humour, is very talented and traveled the world working both as an artist and as Art Director for movies - such as "Verna", from director Shoaib Mansoor. We love the freedom she gives to students to create, including outdoors classes. She was recently listed as one of the 101 Incredible Women of Pakistan and inspires many other women to create, develop and go ahead with amazing ideas and talents!
I am very very happy to share her contact for those who wish to pursue Art classes.

Diyaar in Kashmir is gorgeous, go visit
There's a lovely small hotel that's opened in Kashmir called Diyaar (https://www.instagram.com/diyarresorts/). We didn't need an NOC to visit that part of Kashmir - it's quite close to the Jhelum bridge that connects KPK to Kashmir. We found the staff were attentive and considerate, the rooms are clean, there's hot water (and it's still chilly up there), and well, it's beautiful, thickly wooded and pretty.
There's a very short and pretty hike to do from the hotel to a nearby meadow. Of course, being Kashmir, there's not a lot of freedom of movement, but we found that you can coordinate with Umair - the English speaking manager - and he even offered to take us to Ganga Choti, a high mountain peak where there's still snow. (We sadly didn't have time). Anyway, if you've wanted to see Kashmir, this is the place.
To get there, let Umair know ahead of time (contact him via the instagram link). You'll have to register at the police checkpoint at the entry of Kashmir but otherwise it was pretty chill.

Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP)
Initiated in 1999, the Volkswagen Club of Pakistan (VWCOP) is a group of enthusiasts based out of Islamabad that drive, cherish, restore, recommend, and enjoy the vintage air-cooled cars and vans made by the iconic German auto brand.
VWs were a popular car back in the day, and then, they were rapidly replaced by more modern 4 door automobiles. Many Beetles went the way of the crusher, and it was only in the late 1990s that enthusiasts, recognising the need to preserve this legacy got together and started restoring them. Many cars have been saved, and the 'visibility and acceptance' of this uniquely designed car has increased, in no small part by the club organizing, meets, car shows, drives, picnics, and on occasion, long-distance cross country tours; at times from Karachi to Peshawar, and even as far North as the Pakistan-China border.
We have also teamed up with the Asian Study Group, and organise joint outings with their members. These have included drives to Khanpur lake, the railway museum at Golra, day trips to Murree, as well as drives to Rohtas Fort.
The club is a loosely structured body, with NO annual fees. Anyone with an interest in the brand, or owning a car is deemed a member. As such, we have no means of generating revenue for merchandise.
Core members pool together cash to print calendars and stickers, and occasionally, when finances permit, T shirts, mugs, and caps.
Contact the club via www.facebook.com/VWCOP/
or www.instagram.com/vwcop/?hl=en
or text messages on the club number 0301 535 7000.
The Club would welcome any ideas on increasing visibility of the brand, and indirectly, (the affirmation of Quality!) via any joint programmes between VWCOP and any groups/embassy. This could be, but not limited to, printing of calendar, diaries, outdoor events, and other joint promotions, etc.
We welcome your input and ideas.
